This class is an introduction to ballet terminology, choreography, creative movement and guided improvisation! As we begin choreography in the first class, students will learn beginner ballet terms, their meaning, how they are presented and performed. Class Flow --------------- 1.Barre (use chair, wall, shelf) warmup 2. Ballet dance choreography Some of the ballet Terminology: ----------------------------- 1. Ronde jambe 2. Arabesque 3. Passe 4. Tendu 5. Plie Dance Combination Moves: -------------------------------------------- This portion of the class combines the terminology and the dance moves to create dance sentences. Repetition of the dance moves will help exercise to help their memorization (muscle memory); the major key to developing a dance. We will practice each term 2 to 3 times. (more if necessary). Guided Improvisation & Creative Movement ----------------------------------------------------- Students will be asked to explore! They will be guided through movements such as "move your arms like an angel" or asked to "make their fingers move as if they were snow falling from the sky". This is the section that opens their minds and encourages them to do a little bit of their own choreography. Performance --------------------- Students will get to share their creative movements and then "perform" together as one. (if they are comfortable) There are no materials required for this class. There is no time set aside for questions or comments, however, they are encouraged to speak up and are welcome to express their thoughts and ideas during class. Students do not need to have any previous experiences or knowledge as the class structure is the perfect introduction to ballet and celebrating Christmas the "dancey" way!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the ballet dance terms provided, what they mean in dance and how to perform them. They will engage their muscle memory and explore the connection between creative thoughts and movement.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Ballet has a special place in my heart as it is truly the foundation of all things dance. It took me a few years to understand that, however, when I found it, it made every ballet dance I did more authentic and meaningful. So during a time like this, I am grateful for the ability to connect with he beauty of Christmas and I am very excited to share it with you!
