Class Experience
Students in this class will learn how to create their own Christmas paintings. During this class, we will learn how to use lines to create shapes and textures. This class will be structured informally. Students will be encouraged to be creative and to socialize throughout the lesson. I will teach using a demonstration format. My teaching style is laid back. Students will learn to use lines to create shapes and textures in an acrylic Christmas-themed painting. In order to promote creativity, they will be encouraged to add their own creative details while we paint and socialize.
I have been an educator in brick and mortar schools for 30 years. I have taught all academic subjects for grades K-5 as well as Art and STEAM classes. During this time, I have had the opportunity to teach children about painting and art countless times.
There will be no homework outside of class. However, students may wish to create more artwork after the class has finished.
Canvas, cardstock, or art paper Pencil Paints- please allow the child to select the colors in order to promote creativity Paintbrushes Pallett, paper plate, egg carton to use to blend paints on Paper towel Cup of water And most importantly... a smile
The learners will be assessed informally. Each learner will be encouraged to share their art and ideas with the class throughout the lesson.
45 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
While the class is creating a Christmas painting, the teacher will not discuss Christmas outside of the context of the painting. If acrylic paints are used, please note that they do not wash out of clothing if they get on clothing.
There are no outside resources needed for this class.
