Welcome friends! Books, Books, Books! There are so many books to read/listen to and so little time! The object of this class is to foster a love of reading, build community and share suggestions with friends. Come join us to share books that you enjoy and also to get ideas from peers. Each class students will get to share about a book of their choosing and answer thought provoking questions based on their book. (These questions may cover characters, plot, setting, what excites them about the book, why they would or wouldn't recommend reading it etc.) Students of all reading abilities are welcome. You can read/listen to your book and you can go at your own pace. Students can share where they are in one or more books each week. However, there is no expectation that students need to finish their book in a certain time frame. I hope that I can see your student soon and we can discover new books together! Please note: *Students can read/listen to chapter books, graphic novels or picture books at their reading level. However, I respectfully request that if your book has mature themes (such as extreme/graphic violence or sexual content) that it not be brought to class. I would like to make sure that titles we are sharing are age appropriate and safe for all learners. *Students are expected to be kind and respectful to everyone and understand that not everyone is on the same reading level. (If students need suggestions on where to start then I can provide you with some ideas based on your age, interests and abilities.) My classes are fun and low pressure. Students of all abilities are welcome.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome!
When students are interested in what they are doing, learning they will WANT to learn! I hope that your students will love to learn and become lifelong learners. I want all children to feel comfortable, engaged, encouraged and have fun in my classes I have worked with students from ages 0-14 for over 20 years. I have held several other jobs than teaching which I adored but at this point this is my passion.
My teaching experience comes from multiple sources. Online I have taught thousands of children overseas to learn English through VIPKid. VIPKid (now VIPTeacher) is known for their vigorous standards and training. I have also taught for an elite online program, called Synthesis. Synthesis is an elite program created by the one of the founders of Ad Astra. (Ad Astra is the school that Elon Musk created at SpaceX.) I have also taught thousands of children right here on Outschool since 2020.
Offline teaching experience comes from teaching at a Montessori pre-school, teaching swim and gym classes, summer camps and Sunday school. I also have taught students with a wide range of mental and physical abilities. All students are welcome in my classes and I am willing to make accommodations if requested.
My education consists of a BA in psychology, a BA in Conflict Resolution, TESL, TEOFL, over 40 online teaching certificates, mental health first aid certification, and palliative care certification.
I have two children who are everything to me. I homeschool them and we love going on adventures together. In my spare time I love travelling, baking, camping, Disney, swimming, the beach, water activities, working out, reading and all things full of sparkle and glitter! You can always find me taking a course or earning some kind of certificate.
Come join me and let's have an adventure together!
