The goal of this class is to work on reading comprehension as well as teamwork.  These types of books require the student to comprehend the adventure throughout the book and not just one chapter.  This class requires the students to discuss the next path that should be taken, emphasizing the need to properly discuss ones opinion.  Lastly, throughout this adventure, the students will learn more about Mayan society.

I have been fascinated with archaeology and ancient civilizations since I was a child.  My parents encouraged me to follow my passion throughout my life.  I now have my Masters in archaeology and work in the field that I love.  It is now my turn to pass on my passion to another group of kids.  I have traveled to archaeological sites in the United States as well as in Europe, from the Coliseum in Rome to Ephesus in Turkey.  Therefore, as an archaeologist, I love reading about all civilizations, old and new.  Aside from my personal interest in Mayan Civilization, I worked at Kumon Learning Center for over a year, assisting children pre-K - 12 on comprehension and pronunciation.  This has allowed me to learn how to teach students of all ages and reading levels.  Furthermore, I have coached athletes K-12 for over 8 years and I understand the importance of working together.  This class will encompass my expertise in both areas to ensure a successful class!
