It's almost Chinese New Year! I love Chinese traditions and imagery, and I have actually travelled to Asia twice! In this art class, we will begin by looking at a powerpoint with some fun information about the holiday, and a short video of lion dancers. Make sure you log in on time, so you don't miss this quick cultural lesson! For the art portion of this class, we will draw the lion together in a directed drawing style. Students are always welcome to add their own details and ideas as well! We will finish the lion by painting in with watercolor. If time allows at the end of class, we will share our creations with one another.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! Welcome to my profile. My name is Caitie, and I'm an art teacher in Texas. I currently work at a Montessori school, teaching elementary art full time, but I also teach classes and camps, private studios, and our regional art museum. I LOVE that I get to combine my passion for art and shaping young minds into my career and wouldn't want to do anything else! I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts, focused in painting and printmaking. In addition to teaching, I am also a working artist and show my paintings in local museums and shops.
I enjoy painting, photography, yoga, playing with my dog, Roxie, and travelling. So far I've visited China, Taiwan, Belgium, England, France, and The Netherlands!
Thanks for stopping by, I'm looking forward to creating with your little artist in one of my hands on classes!
