Join Ms. Moony for a fun celebration of Chinese New Year (known as the Spring Festival) which will be on Feb 1st 2022. We’ll listen to the legend about the Spring festival and explore what and why we have special traditions to celebrate this festival. Following up with a discussion, we’ll learn what the special food is and drink for this holiday and how to cook them. As you may know, food culture play important roles in Chinese culture. Finally, we will enjoy a beautiful song for this holiday. We will play game to review what we’ve learned at the end of the class. This class is meant to be a social experience and could be very student-centered. There is no wrong way to participate and no previous experience or knowledge needed in this class. Learners are encouraged to talk about their thoughts and ideas about this holiday, I hope not only to nurture their curiosity about different culture, food, and customs, but also support them to explore and learn more for a long term. To be fun, relaxed and enjoyable and make some good memories are also important for all of us. I look forward to meeting you and your curious children in the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a Beijinger who was born and grew up in Beijing for 30 years, I have experienced all the traditional way to celebrate Chinese New Year. I have taught about this topic and made tons of dumplings with my students in local Chinese school and my Chinese club in public elementary school after I moved to US from 2016. It's always my favorite topic to teach and I'm passionate about combining my cooking creativity with Chinese culture.
