In this two day class, we will read three Chinese New Year books together using guided reading and focusing on vocabulary, sequencing, and comprehension.

In this class we will celebrate Chinese New Year together as we use guided reading techniques to read three themed books. We will also focus on vocabulary words, sequencing, and comprehension. I use interactive activities, puzzles, and comprehension questions to keep kids engaged in the lesson. I love to have fun teaching children to love reading with me! In Class One we will explore the book "A Lucky Chinese New Year" by Susan Meredith and read it together as a class. We will read the definitions of the vocabulary words, spell them, and identify adjectives in the story. We will also read the companion book "Sam and the Lucky Money" by Karen Chinn. In Class Two, we will finish the book by Karen Chinn and also read "Chinese New Year" by David Marx. After reading, we will complete a vocabulary match puzzle and a sequencing activity. We will also sequence events and answer comprehension questions.
Learning Goals
Students will read amazing and wonderful books about Chinese New Year while sequencing events, answering comprehension questions, and working on grammar skills.
