Chinese Mandarin 101 (Beginner Level)

你好！Nǐ hǎo! Hello 👋

My name is 琳老师 / Lín lǎoshī / Teacher Lin! 

**Please note this is a one-on-one class intended to offer more specific guidance to help your young learner learn Chinese Mandarin! This class is aimed for young learners with no prior knowledge of the Chinese language.**

Learning a new language is always a challenge. That's why I created this class to educate students who would like to pursue Chinese Mandarin! For me, to teach a student means to I will encourage positive reinforcement, provide them with opportunities to engage with others, and build their confidence level! All students have different learning styles and it's important to meet each student's needs in order to best guide them.

This class develops beginning learners' functional language ability - the ability to use Mandarin Chinese in linguistically and culturally appropriate ways at the beginning level. It helps students acquire communicative competence in Chinese while sensitizing them to the connections between language and culture.


**Disclaimer: Please let Lin Laoshi 琳老师 know if you would like the class to be taught in Simplified 简体 or Traditional 繁體 Chinese characters BEFORE the first day of class.**

This is an ongoing class meaning students can join and leave at their convenience! Each week will have new material being taught and previously learned material to help stimulate students review! In addition, there are games incorporated throughout the lesson to help students retain their knowledge!

- Ice Breaker & Warm-Up (2-3 mins)
- Let's Read Together! (10 mins)
- Practice & Learn Lesson Material (20 mins)
- Review & Games! (10 mins)
- Answer Questions (5 mins, after class) 

What will be taught?

The course outline below is for Beginner-level Learners of the Chinese language who will meet with me once a week. If you would like to increase the number of class days or change the class curriculum, please let me know.

- Learn to say Hello 
- Create Self-Introduction

⇢ Week 2
Topic: Identifying Colors
- Learn the Colors of the Rainbow
- Create Dialogue about colors

⇢ Week 3
Topic: Hobbies
- Learn how to identify different hobbies
- Create Dialogue about hobbies

⇢ Week 4
Topic: Ordering Food at a Restaurant 
- Learn how to identify a menu, different food & drink items
- Create Dialogue about ordering food with friends


Due to the nature of this class being online, I strongly recommend using the printable lesson worksheets I provide for your young learners to help them with writing Chinese characters.
