In this course, I will be teaching the basics of Chinese brush painting, including basic brushstrokes, how to hold the brush, materials needed, and other details. I will also teach the gongbi style and the xieyi style.

Class Experience
If you like Chinese brush painting, of different subjects, you need to know the basics. In this ongoing class, I will teach the basics and also provide tutorials for specific subjects in Chinese brush painting. In every class, we will be learning and reviewing the basic brushstrokes, how to hold the brush, and how to use ink and water. These are basic knowledge that we will review every class. Students will learn the basic Chinese brushstrokes, how to hold the brush, and how to use ink and water. In each tutorial, there will be a different subject to paint, but the same basic brushstrokes will be used.
For homework, I would like students to find a subject that inspires them and try to paint it with the basic brushstrokes. Also, for homework, students can paint the subject we have learned in class but practice painting it again.
