Class Experience

This is the part 2 of the 3-part Mandarin Chinese Beginners Reading Camp leading up to the Interactive Murder Mystery Online Book class here: https://outschool.com/classes/simplified-chinese-reading-interactive-murder-mystery-250-characters-OxxPkeaG?usid=NkO7ExQL&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

It is preceded by part 0 which is a radical and pinyin primer. If your student has never learned about Chinese characters before they can start with this class to get a better grasp of the radicals (an alphabet of sorts for Chinese characters) as well as a pinyin primer so they can better pronounce the characters in use in Mandarin. We will briefly talk about radicals in part 1 of the series as well but if you haven't done characters before I highly recommend this class first.

It is recommended, not required, that students have some grasp on pinyin and tones to make it easier to correctly pronounce and tone the characters as they read them. If they don't then you can take a pinyin/tones course like the one I offer (linked below) or from someone else. https://outschool.com/classes/mandarin-chinese-conversation-camp-pt-0-pinyin-and-tones-6Hw4bKWG?usid=NkO7ExQL&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

Students will learn 25 words a week during each of our weeks using videos, flashcards(Anki is recommended for this) and games/activities to review.
