Description

Class Experience

Students will learn how to cream sugar, correctly measure ingredients, and understand the importance of different flowers. They will also understand what gluten-free in baking means. Students will also learn how to make chocolate chip cookies and will be able to identify potential problems in their baking for the next time they make this recipe.
In addition to being a certified educator, I am an amateur baker. I bake regularly at home, and have a firm understanding of this recipe, and these techniques. I also know how to teach students in middle school and high school age range.
No homework will be assigned, but students will need to have ingredients ready for the class.
 1 file available upon enrollment
Oven, microwave, cookie sheet, baking mat (optional), white sugar, brown sugar, salt, vanilla, egg, all-purpose flour or gluten-free 1 to 1 flour, baking soda. You will also need a mixing bowl, a silicone spatula, a large spoon, or a scoop.
Although there is no formal assessment, I will be checking on student work. The students will create cookies, and be able to self assess at the end of class.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will be using a mixer at home, and their oven. Please make sure that they know how to safely utilize these cooking appliances, and have the appropriate safety equipment like an oven mit.
