Doing puzzles helps sharpen chess players' tactical intuition. In other words, it helps to recognize more patterns and do so faster. This is incredibly important because the kids will be able to not only see when you have tactical opportunities in any given position but also prime the pieces for such opportunities. Every lesson is independent and new kids could join anytime! We will work in detail on many different examples about the following themes: Wednesdays: Class - Wednesday, Oct 2: Pins with bishops, rooks, and queens. Class - Wednesday, Oct 9: Skewers with queens, rooks, and bishops. Class - Wednesday, Oct 16: Random puzzles with thinking. Class - Wednesday, Oct 23: Double attack and the difference between the fork. Class - Wednesday, Oct 30: Discovered attack, checks, and checkmates. Class - Wednesday, Nov 6: Back rank checkmates or win material. Class - Wednesday, Nov 13: Random puzzles with thinking. Class - Wednesday, Nov 20: Forks with different pieces. Saturdays: Class - Saturday, October 5: Skewers with queens, rooks, and bishops. Class - Saturday, October 12: Random puzzles with thinking. Class - Saturday, October 19: Discovered attack, checks, and checkmates. Class - Saturday, October 26: Back rank checkmates or win material. Class - Saturday, November 2: Clearance and sacrifice. Class - Saturday, November 9: Random puzzles with thinking. Class - Saturday, November 16: Forks with different pieces. Class - Saturday, November 23: Pins with bishops, rooks, and queens. If your child knows how to move the pieces and basic concepts of the chess game - this ongoing course is the right one!
