Student progress can be monitored with informal assessment or written reports. Once learners are able to play, the increase in rating is also an effective way of measuring student's progress. The main core is to monitor rating increase and gain.Class Experience
The Chess for beginners: Introduction to chess basics will cover the following topics: How to set up the chess pieces on a board Names of pieces Learning piece movement Chess language—the coordinates on the chessboard. The class is structured to the learner's needs and understanding. The instructor will teach the lesson over zoom with a web application called lichess. The instructor would create lichess accounts for students to play and learn independently with their parents' consent. The instructor would give assignments to students only by the parent's request. We will also make use of Kahoot. Learners will interact with the instructor by answering questions. All levels of experience are welcome.
Learning Goals
At the end of the lesson, Learners will have better knowledge and understanding of chess basics, the names of the pieces, the movement of the pieces, the board coordinates, special moves, and a little bit of captures.
