Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Advanced Level
This class is for students who already know the chess openings and techniques and wish to prepare themselves for tournaments and play advance level chess. 
The teacher will take them through the various techniques in order to get high FIDE rankings. The strategies covered during the lessons through the ten weeks course, in no specific order are :

1: Material and time
2: Mate
3: Breakthrough
4: How to use pawns?
5: Pawn race
6: The seventh rank
7: Discovered attack
8: The pin
9: The opening
10: Rook against pawn
11: Strong square
12: Defending
13: Rook ending
14: Attacking the king
15: Open file
16: Draws

Knowledge of these techniques help the chess players to develop their game further. The students will also get to play chess games with the teacher during the course and play various puzzles to help understand the techniques and the moves.

LOW ENROLMENTS AND CLASS CANCELLATION

We conduct small group classes and keep a very low minimum threshold (2 kids). If any section receives lower than minimum threshold then the section may be cancelled, and the learner is automatically moved to the next upcoming section.

For game play we will use the anonymous play on lichess.org. The student does not have to sign in or create an account and the teacher will guide on how to send an anonymous game play link. However it is important for parents to know that lichess.org is GDPR compliant.
