Chess Club - Intermediate and Advanced Level Players - HS
What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Learners will be paired off to play against each other with guidance from the teacher. If there is an uneven amount of learners in a class, one learner will play against the teacher whilst the teacher supervises all of the active games in the class. Each learner will need to have a chess board and they will show or tell their opponent their moves to be copied or written down by their opponent in order for their opponent to counter-move. Each class will be learner-directed and dependent upon the expertise levels of the students who enroll. Instruction will be given accordingly, therefore it cannot be planned out as the students who attend will dictate the instruction that will be provided in each class. Chess notation templates will be provided. Learners will be taught the following as applicable, although it is expected that learners will already have some experience with playing chess before enrolling in this class: - How to move the pieces - Playing the game - Opening Principles - Winning the game - Capturing pieces - Finding Checkmate - Key Openings including The Queen's Gambit - The strengths and weaknesses of each piece - Understanding Endgames - Winning with tactics - Forcing moves - Reading the board - Choosing the best moves - Activating your pieces - Planning your moves ahead - Attacking the King - Patterns
Learning Goals
