Description
Class Experience
By the end of the course, students should be able to know all the rules of chess and be able to play a complete game from beginning to end. This includes understanding special circumstances such as castling, en passant, and stalemate.
I have been teaching chess, both in classroom settings and private lessons for the last 12 years. Working with K-12 students with classes of up to 50 students, I have the experience and knowledge to teach students to not only learn chess, but to enjoy the process of learning as well. I am rated about 1900 USCF.
Students will be encouraged to play games on their free time and to share with me if they have any questions or need feedback.
Please be sure to have your chess.com account set up and send me a friend request prior to the first class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
