Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Since this is a tutoring session, my teaching goals are dictated by your learning goals, and your learning goals are dictated by your curriculum. Just tell me what is required of you and what you are struggling with and you will get the help you need to excel in the course!
I have taught thousands of hours of chemistry, math, biology and other science related courses. I have ample experience teaching hybrid, fully online, and face-to-face courses with lecture and lab. I have experience teaching specialty courses such as Pharmacy Tech., Ophthalmic Tech., Math Review for Science, Chemistry for Biology, H.S. Regents and SAT review. Has dedicated much time working one-on-one with high school and college students (ages 13 to adult) requiring extra help with chemistry and math. Below is an abbreviated list of my successes.

1) Education:
> Ph.D. (Biochemistry and Structural Biology) Stony Brook University 12/2008
> Master of Science (Chemistry) Stony Brook University 12/2004
> Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry) Stony Brook University 12/2003

2) Teaching Experiences (Present and Past)

> Suffolk County Community College: Tenured faculty member.

> Nassau County Community College: Adjunct professor.

> State University of New York, Stony Brook University Health Science Center.

> United States Merchant Marine Academy: Department of Math and Sciences
If a student requires additional work outside of our tutoring sessions I will provide handouts which we will go over in our next session.
Scientific calculator (usually required for chemistry problems), scrap paper, and good attitude.
Under my tutelage a students progress is assessed informally as we go over the material together. Asking many questions during a session facilitates this cause. At times students need to be supplemented in a “crash course” in a particular topic if they have fallen behind, or never covered the material previously. It is my experience that throwing out a bunch of facts may be ineffective if the student doesn’t understand the underlying principles, and theories.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
