-identify physical and chemical properties of matter
My favorite all-time teacher was my tenth grade Honors Chemistry teacher. I was already interested in science, but he laid the foundation for the courses I took in college. After I finished with my BS in Biology and my Chemistry minor, I became a science teacher. I taught the ins and outs of the periodic table and the changes (additions) they have made over time. The basics that Mr. Russell taught me all those years ago are the same ones I remember today. I look forward to building a strong foundation with your child.
--Nearpod practice
--Google Forms "quizzes"
For Session 2's Density column, students will need:1/4 cup of each of the following liquids: honey, corn syrup, dish soap, water (I suggest coloring it blue with food coloring), and vegetable oil; 2 spoons, plastic bottle with lid OR glass jar with lid—big enough for about 2 cups (500ml bottle is good)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Informal:
--Nearpod practice
--Google Forms "quizzes"
--possibly Kahoot
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students will need a work area for Session 2 that may get a bit wet/sticky, due to the activity.
