This is an introductory level class where students will be introduced to scientific notation and will learn how to use a calculator for solving problems involving scientific notations.

Learning to solve math problems involving scientific notations is essential in chemistry and other physical sciences. I will introduce students to scientific notation and discuss why scientific notation is used in chemistry. I will also demonstrate how to use the ‘EE’ button or the 'exp' button on a scientific calculator to input numbers in scientific notation. Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students who don’t have a scientific calculator may use any online calculator such as google calculator. Students may be given an online quiz to check for understanding. Students will not need to log in or make an account to access the quiz during class.
