Learning to solve math problems involving scientific notations is essential in chemistry and other physical sciences. I will introduce students to scientific notation and discuss why scientific notation is used in chemistry. I will also demonstrate how to use the ‘EE’ button or the 'exp' button on a scientific calculator to input numbers in scientific notation. I will be teaching using an online chalkboard/presentation. Worksheets with practice problems will be available in the classroom...
Materials to bring to class: -a pencil, an eraser & a notebook - printout of the worksheet packet I provide -a scientific calculator with an 'EE' button or an 'exp' button. -You may also use the online google calculator. Prerequisites: -ability to follow instructions and take notes -knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponents -know the order of operations
