Intermediate - Advanced Level
This course covers Part II high school chemistry curriculum: stoichiometry, solutions, water properties, electronegativity, hydrogen bonds. I will teach all concepts using a whiteboard and will provide practice questions on each concept. Worksheets with practicing material will be uploaded for each section. week1 - review atomic number, mass, introducing concept of mole and avogadro number, practice questions week2 - introducing molar mass of a compound, practicing converting amount to mass, mass to number of particles week 3- stoichiometry practice (balancing chemical reactions, calculation of moles, mass) week4- calculation of limiting and excess reactants, production yield week 5- water properties, hydrogen bonds, electronegativity week 6- trends in periodic table - radius, affinity week 7- solutions, concentration week 8 - course review I am always happy to answer questions during and after the session. Students who have completed chemistry Part I (or equivalent) are encouraged to enroll in this sessions.
Learning Goals
students will practice and improve their understanding in moles/mass/molecular mass/Avogadro number relations, calculating ratio and molar/mass relation, calculation concentration in chemical reactions
