Chemistry From Atoms to Zinc Part 1

This class will cover part 1 of a high school chemistry class.  
    Week 1: atoms, their parts, and how we discovered them
    Week 2: Fission, fusion, and artificial atoms
    Week 3: Solar Chemistry
    Week 4: atomic Mass
    Week 5: Electrons and the periodic table
    Week 6: Electronic Configuration
    Week 7&8: chemical bonds.
Grab your calculator folks, because chemistry is a quantitative field.  But don't worry too much, we'll go through the math concepts one at a time.  By the end of the six weeks students should have a very thorough understanding of how chemistry works.
I teach through direct instruction, discussion, small groups, videos, and some independent practice.  I will be giving out optional labs with ingredients that can be purchased from hardware or grocery store.
No previous experience is required but some basic math skills would be helpful such as addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, scientific notation, graphs, and some basic literacy requirements.
