Imagine if you could uncover rocks, gems, minerals, and crystals while exploring The Periodic Table of Elements. Let’s investigate geology and chemistry together using the rocks around us to uncover fascinating elements. Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Neurodiverse friendly with unique learning ideas incorporated. No prior chemistry or geology knowledge is required.

Class experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
Students will engage in the discovery and investigation of various geology aspects as we explore the periodic table of elements. They will uncover new ideas and appreciate how a specific rock, gem, or crystal has formed.
I love discovering new geological specimens with my students. My geology passion grew as my oldest son developed a love for the field. We worked alongside the curators at our local museum to learn from the masters in this area. My collection of specimens is from around the world and there are so many details to explore related to chemistry. I have hundreds of examples to share as we explore the various rocks, chemical elements, minerals, and uncover where elements originated.
Homework Offered
After select classes, I will provide additional materials for the learner to choose from at home. It may be links to videos, games, handouts, and wonderful resources to explore this field deeper. The selection of resources will vary from week to week. You may also reach out at any time with requests and questions.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Grades Offered
We have many modalities to use for learning in this class. Learners can draw, collaborate, create, as I guide through our sessions. Students will feel welcome and comfortable as we all learn from each other in our sessions.
Students can bring the rock of the week with them to share in class as we discover the elements together. They may want to bring paper and pencil, a copy of the periodic table, or anything specific related to our rock of the week. This is optional as I will have the information on-screen.
**Periodic table printout will be provided for students. They should bring this to class but will also be provided on-screen in class.
**There are some video experiments that Chemists use under a controlled setting and may use the following: fire, dry ice, and other substances that students would only be viewing. Please let your child know that this would only be performed in a lab setting by a professional. I will stress this in class when we are learning about the various elements of the periodic table.
There will be periodic additional materials placed in the classroom for students.
