Class Experience

Students will understand the difference between a physical and chemical change. Students will be able to identify the indicators of a chemical change. Students will learn how to gather information through experimentation.
I LOVE CHEMICAL CHANGES! I have taught chemical reactions in a classroom setting for the past 3 years as a 6th grade science teacher and a 4th grade teacher.
Students will be expected to gather materials for experiments prior to class. No other homework will be assigned.
Students will need the following items for different classes. Please refer to the class overview to know which days specific items will be needed: - Marshmallows - Heat source like a stove or indoor grill - Skewers - Paper Towels - Warm Water - Vinegar - Baking Soda - Measuring Cups and spoons - 1 packet of yeast - 6% hydrogen peroxide (Expensive! 3% will also work just not as explosively) - Dish soap, - Thin, empty glass or empty water bottle - Tray or plate for spills - Milk
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Assessment will be conducted in an informal way.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students should conduct all experiments in close proximity to an adult. Adults don't need to be present during class but should be nearby to ensure that students are safe.
