This 1:1 session will help your cheerleader gain the confidence they need for tryouts! In this class, learners may bring their own material from tryouts to be critiqued and improved. Any information regarding the tryout requirements, material, and expectations to make the team will be helpful to guide the 1:1 session. The timing of this class is ideal for right before or during the week of tryouts. If you do not yet have material from tryouts, the teacher will review general skills that...
The student will be given tips and feedback for improving their chances to make the cheerleading team. Each student is different and their goals will drive the outcomes of this class.
I am a former cheerleading camp instructor and camp director for the largest cheerleading company in the US. I have spent many summers teaching and coaching over night cheerleading camps to hundreds of cheerleaders all over the Southeast. I have tons of experience teaching all levels of cheerleading, from the basics, to all-stars and even college level. I have held certifications in AACA and taken many cheer-safety courses. In addition, I have served as a judge for countless cheerleading tryouts and team selection processes.
Extra space for the lesson, proper workout attire, workout footwear (cheer shoes or tennis shoes), a mat or towel, and a water bottle.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Cheerleading is a physical activity and will require extra space to move around during the lesson. During the lesson, students may be standing and holding their arms out in different directions and jumping off of the ground with their legs extended which will require a space with no hazards in the way. In addition, students may be on the floor for stretching and students may prefer a mat or towel to sit on. Parental guidance should be considered as injuries may occur during sports-type activities. Extra items the participant may want to bring include a water bottle, proper footwear (cheer shoes or tennis shoes), a mat, and proper workout attire that will allow the student to move around easily. The class will include a quick stretching warm up but participants may want to stretch before and after the class to avoid injuries and sore muscles.
