It's time to cheer! This one-time course is designed to explore learners interest in the sport of cheerleading! In this course, learners will be taught the basics of cheerleading. At the beginning of each class, I will lead a series of stretches to prepare learners for the class. During the course, learners will learn two popular jumps including tucks and toe touches. They will learn the proper techniques for arm angles and jumps. Learners will be taught a general cheer which can be used for any team or occasion. This class will cover new material that was not taught in the two day camp so returning students are welcome to join!
Learning Goals
Students will be able to demonstrate jumps such as tucks and toe touches.
Students will be able to integrate jumps and arm movements into a cheer.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Students will need a safe, open workout space to complete the activities within the course. Please be advised that minor injury may occur if learners are not properly supervised during the activities.
Supply List
Tennis shoes (closed toed), comfortable athletic wear, hair pulled back, water bottle, and a smile!
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I was a cheerleader for three years in high school. When I went to college, they did not have a cheerleading team. I started a team and served as president for three years. Additionally, the college team held camps for youth at a nearby elementary school where we taught children the basics of cheerleading.
