Class Experience

In this camp, learners will be taught new material each day.

Day 1 : A quick warm-up followed by a 4- 8 count dance will be taught on the first day. This will allow participants to practice the 8 counts at home each evening to get ready for the final day performance. **To avoid copyright issues, the teacher will NOT provide music for the dance. During the camp, we will be counting out the dance and will not perform it to music. Students may choose to perform the dance to music of their choosing after the camp.**

Day 2: A review of the dance. Motions and placement will be reviewed followed by a "crowd" leading cheer. Words will be taught first and then motions will follow.

Day 3: A review of the dance and cheer will start the class. Then, participants will learn a chant for offense, defense and a general sideline. Another review will be held as time allows. Awards will be given at the end of the class.

***A stretch session & a toe touch will be taught AFTER material is taught. The teacher will use her discretion and add it in on either day 1, 2 , or 3. Because everyone learns differently, it will depend how comfortable we are with the material that is taught. For example, if the students are quick to pick up the dance, jumps will be taught on day 1. If they are quick to pick up the cheer, it will be taught on day 2, etc.

All material for the camp is choreographed and created by the teacher.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Cheerleading is a physical activity and will require extra space to move around during the lesson. During the lesson, students may be standing and holding their arms out in different directions and dancing which will require a space with no hazards in the way. Parental guidance should be considered as injuries may occur during sports-type activities. Extra items the participant may want to bring include a water bottle, proper footwear (cheer shoes or tennis shoes) and proper workout attire that will allow the student to move around easily. The class will include a quick stretching warm but participants may want to stretch before and after the class to avoid injuries and sore muscles.
Supply List
Extra space for the lesson, proper workout attire, workout footwear (cheer shoes or tennis shoes) and a water bottle.
