Class Experience

A. OVERVIEW
** It is suggested that prior to signing up, students enroll in “Let’s Talk: Conversation for Introverts – Level I” **

**Note: Sessions run year-round once a week, except when there is a holiday. There is a break during the month of September as this is a time when many are returning to school and have a lot going on. If you have any questions at all, please reach out. **

** OCT - DEC 2024: Dear families, we are currently running every other week until the end of the year. **

An important component of Mr. LeCara's “Let’s Talk: Conversation for Introverts” classes is encouraging students to reach out, get out of one’s comfort zone, make contact, be present. These Sunday sessions give visitors an opportunity to use modern technology to, in a very natural way, practice, embody, and master the following:

• Entering and exiting conversations
• Starting conversations
• Maintaining conversations
• Making and maintaining eye contact
• Feeling comfortable enough to ask questions
• Relating to others and being comfortable in an environment that is fully accepting
• Developing an individual voice

Welcome to an hour of great conversation every SUNDAY morning. Anyone taking “Let’s Talk: Conversation for Introverts” or “Let’s Talk Again” can accomplish their goals by attending these get-togethers. As discussed in those "Conversation for Introverts" classes, it may be awkward at first. The great thing is that we already know that. We can acknowledge that and then move on to having that conversation. After a check-in and update, topics will be ready to go. But participants are invited to come prepared with their own. As group moderator, Mr. LeCara will also let the conversation go wherever it goes based on the interest of the attendees.

B. HOW STUDENTS WILL LEARN
Students will use their personal experience, prior knowledge, and skills learned from “Let’s Talk” to engage in conversation and make connections. Learning will take place through the ability to develop a comfort level by discussing safe topics with what may be a rotating group of attendees. Students will have a chance to practice, and then demonstrate, their earlier class learning as they connect, bond with, and establish relationships with others who are familiar with their experiences and their struggles.

C. HOW STUDENTS WILL INTERACT WITH TEACHER AND EACH OTHER
Students will have access to the teacher 24/7. As a group, students will be expected to engage with everyone in attendance. Though the teacher may lead to start everyone off, students are expected to continue the discussion without teacher prompt. Attendees should expect the teacher to be a participant, not a leader during this time together. Themes and breakout may also be utilized.

D.CLASS STRUCTURE
Depending on the class size, it will be an open forum where students can practice conversational skills and get to know others in a safe, judgement-free, and fully supportive environment.
