Can you make a quick decision and back it up with examples, descriptions, facts, or opinions? Students will be exposed to a variety of thoughtful (and some silly) decisions to make using prompts similar to "Would You Rather" questions. The goal is to make a decision and then back it up with details, all in under one minute. Creativity and imagination is encouraged! I purposely keep this class extremely small so students get LOTS of talk time. The class will begin with a short introduction...
My undergraduate degree was in Communication Studies and I enjoy sharing a love of speaking with others, especially when we can have fun practicing together.
No background is required and homework is not assigned, but feel free to play some of these decision-making games with friends and family!
Please provide scratch paper and a writing utensil for your student, so they can jot down notes and/or ideas. Note: We will not be using the chat feature for this class, so please make sure you have microphone access. Thank you :)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
There will be a timer used as part of the game for each student. It is incorporated in the game challenge, and it is also to ensure students have equal amounts of talk time throughout our time together.
