In this one-time class, learners will engage with a Geologist to discuss the ways in which Geology affects where we live. Group discussion will be centered around natural resources and geologic hazards and benefits and how they influence our lives. In this lesson, we will use a collaborative approach to give examples of places that have special geologic characteristics that enhance or present specific risks to the people who live in those areas. Learners will be encouraged to participate in this discussion with the teacher and others in the group. The classroom will be enhanced with slides, lecture, and video clips, as necessary, to allow each learner the opportunity to fully understand the importance of Geology in our daily lives. There is no prerequisite knowledge for this class. Learners should come ready to engage and have fun!
