In this one time live class learners with the instructor together will work on shading portraits in charcoal.
Class Experience
In this one time live class learners, along with the teacher, will work on shading a drawn portrait using willow charcoal. The class material will cover value, light source, blending, and preservation.
Learners will use artistic language and drawing skills to explore value, light and shadow, blending techniques, and working from reference.
Learners will need: Willow charcoal Kneadable eraser Blending stump (Kleenex or stops can also work) Dry medium drawing paper no smaller than 9x12 A predawn portrait in pencil with outline only Reference photo
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
