US Grade 3 - 6
Welcome to Book Club! 👋 📘Over the next 6 weeks, students will be reading, discussing, & interacting with the novel "Charlotte's Web" by E.B. White. Students will need to have their own copy of the book (hard copy, digital, or audio). There is a link to purchase the book on Amazon in the welcome packet that you will receive upon enrolling in the book club. ________________________________________________ All reading will be completed independently by the student. This can be in the form of: 💡the student reading a hard copy (or digital copy) of the book 💡the student and a family member reading a copy of the book together 💡the student listening to an audio copy of the book (yes, this counts as "reading"!) ________________________________________________ What makes this course unique? 💡Your student receives video instruction from a certified & experienced reading teacher about the focus chapters and reading strategies & skills for the week. 💡All of the printable materials (with answer keys) are provided to families, in addition to a digital format option. 💡Students will have opportunities (not required) to participate in engaging book projects during the book study. 💡A strong focus on vocabulary and using words in context is incorporated into this book club. 💡Students can submit all work (and any other questions) for detailed feedback from the teacher. Feedback will be provided within 24 hours. If assignments are submitted on the weekend, please allow until the following Monday for feedback. ________________________________________________ 📝Recommended Supplies ✅Students will need to have their own copy of the book (hard copy, digital, or audio). There is a link to purchase the book on Amazon in the welcome packet that you will receive upon enrolling in the book club. ✅All discussion materials (both print & digital formats) will be provided by the teacher. I recommend keeping a reading folder or binder to house all vocabulary & comprehension activities, but this is certainly not a requirement. ________________________________________________ My goal is to help students MAKE SENSE of what they are learning, and not just memorize content. I believe very strongly in focusing on the "WHY" and "HOW". 📨Please feel free to reach out with questions you may have!
Learning Goals
Students will develop (or expand) a love for reading as they build reading comprehension skills & strategies, participate in discussions, & complete engaging book projects.
