In this 5 week course we will be reading and discussing the Newberry Honor novel Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. Students all over adore the story of a pig and how friendship is able to save his life!

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
In this 5 week course, students will be expected to read the assigned chapters ahead of class. During class we will discuss the characters, setting, events, and morals or lessons taught throughout the chapters. We will also practice higher-order thinking through discussions about why the characters make the choices they do, discussing the scenes from the characters different points of view, and coming up with possible solutions for problems throughout the story. Students will be evaluated through class discussions.

Lesson 1:
Chapters 1-3
 Before our first class students will read chapters 1-3. In class we will discuss comprehension, vocabulary, characters, and morals/lessons taught in chapters 1-3.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
In the story the main character, Wilbur, is in danger of being killed. His life is saved through the dedication of a friend, but he does get emotional about the possibility of being killed throughout the beginning of the story.
