Please note that the beginning of the story starts with a piglet almost getting slaughtered because it is a runt. It is saved by the girl, Fern but Wilbur (the piglet) learns he will be eaten for Christmas. So the animals have a plan to save him. At the end it does have a major character die peacefully as in nature. https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/charlottes-web
When we discuss farm life there might be some topics like animals for meat that may come up. The talk will be geared toward that some animals are used for meat as others for clothing, etc.
