Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Tara Lynn and I am an art teacher and have a passion for learning! I hold a degree in Education (and a second degree in Leadership) and I have professional experience working with children in preschool, elementary, and high-school! I am a full-time artist and also run a successful learn-to-paint business online called The Painted Cicada. I also consider myself a lifelong learner.
My teaching style can be described as calm and encouraging. I welcome all learners, I am accepting and affirming of all backgrounds and identities.
I invite you to learn more about me and my art here: www.paintedcicada.com
But let's get down to the fun stuff, shall we? Creativity is often downplayed in our society- there has been a big push for science, technology, and math (which, no doubt, are important!) So many of us lose sight of our creative spirit somewhere along our journey. I believe art, creativity and self-expression are vital to the human spirit! Working our creative muscles also supports problem solving and ingenuity. Being creative is a wonderful way to supplement reading, writing, problem solving and understanding the world around us.
Whether students want to learn art to pick up new techniques or just to have fun, the more you make art, the better your skills become! Come be creative with me!
