Charlie's Chocolate Factory Challenge: A Delicious Dilemma - Escape Room

Every child wants to "ditch" school for a class field trip - and now is YOUR chance! You and your friends are on your way to Charlie's Chocolate Factory - the most famous & mysterious chocolate factory in the entire world! The bus ride seems to take forever, but everyone fills the time discussing all of the mysteries and stories surrounding the chocolate factory. The latest rumor is about a "top secret" new candy bar recipe for the long-awaited "Campfire Bar" that all of Charlie's Chocolate Factory competitors would love to steal! Of course, you wouldn't want the recipe to fall into the wrong hands, you'd LOVE to discover what exactly is inside that candy bar for yourself... And although you've heard that every room in the factory is kept under strict lock & key, that doesn't stop you & your friends from seeking the adventure of a lifetime! You eventually find your chance to break away from your tour and sneak off on a quest for the secret recipe! But suddenly, a joyride down the cocoa bean chute plops you into a silo of cocoa beans in the chocolate factory basement with no way out in sight! As much as you don't want to return to school without that recipe, you certainly don't want to be turned into a Snickers bar! You and your friends must don your "thinking caps", work together and plan your way out. You'll need patience and your code-cracking skills to escape before you're wrapped up and shipped off to your favorite grocery store! I will use a slideshow/presentation to illustrate each part of the story and display the 3 different puzzles. Students will be allowed to use the chat box and their microphones to communicate with each other and myself to solve the problem. I will be moderating and offering clues to encourage and guide the class without giving the answers until the very end. The class will be able to vote on whether or not they would like to use a clue. (Please bring a paper and pen to take any notes or solve any clues)
Learning Goals
Students will need to pay close attention to detail and use their listening skills during the presentation of each puzzle. They will also need to use their manners when working together as a team and take turns speaking and giving input. They will need to use their problem-solving skills and their critical thinking to solve the puzzle before time is up!
*Please note: This is not a class based on the Willy Wonka characters.
