In this weekly ongoing class students will learn new drawing techniques using charcoal and draw various topics.We will draw still life’s and learn the importance of light and shadow.We will also learn the importance of detail in a still life, as well as practice drawing different textures.We will also learn to draw hands and eyes, work on portraits and the structure of the human face, landscapes and many other topics!Students will learn how to use shade and light to create dynamic realistic charcoal drawings. New techniques are to be used to create a drawing in each lesson. We will also discuss the different Principles of drawing so that students will develop an understanding of how to make drawings that stand out. This is a beginner to intermediate drawing class for students who are interested in learning how to use charcoal to draw realistically abd also for students who would like to grow their drawing technique. In this class, students will focus on positive and negative space to bring out a charcoal drawing and its details, values, and textures. Each class students will focus on learning a new charcoal drawing technique to advance their skills.I’m addition techniques will change throughout the course and focus on a different subject matter each time, so you can continue to take the class and review techniques with a unique drawing at the conclusion of every class. Schedule of Topics and Breakdown of Class: - Greeting and going over supplies - The weeks art technique will be introduced and assignments will be given out. -Creation of drawing and techniques - Students will be encouraged to share art with other students and teacher - Classed dismissal We will start with the following art activities: The following sections will follow the below schedule: August 20th - Still life - Learn to draw an Apple August 27th - Landscape - Mountains and Lake drawing Sep 3rd - Portrait -Learn to draw the human face in charcoal Sep 10th- Draw a realistic animal. September 17th - Draw hands-Learn how to draw structure and use shade September 24th-Landscape-Trees and River drawing- Learn principles and elements of design (Proportion,Contrast And Texture. October 1st - Portrait - Learn to draw a nose October 8th - Still Life - Learn how to draw a rose October 15th - Still Life shapes -charcoal sphere exercise October 22nd - Landscape October 29th - Landscape - November 5th- Self portrait-Learn about the structure of the human face and use techniques that have been learned in previous lessons **More Lessons will be added**
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the use of charcoal and shading to make a drawing look realistic.They will
Learn about the principles and elements of design and will be able to use this technique throughout their lessons.Artists will practice drawing portraits, still life's, and landscapes using the various techniques that they have learned during class. Students will learn about the structure of the human face and will effectively be able to draw a realistic portrait.
Please keep in mind that students work at their own pace and might have to work on their projects after class.I encourage all my students to express their own creativity and a comfortable encouraging environment!
