Beginner - Intermediate Level
Making strong and unique character choices is one of the most challenging aspects of acting. This week-long Characterization Crash Course is designed to provide students with the tools they need to effectively embody any character they encounter in their future performances, allowing them to bring entirely new dimensions to their characters. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS COURSE Characterization Crash Course is a place for actors to focus on the aspects of characterization that often get ignored. We will spend time exploring various techniques including the Laban method and vocalization. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW - Because of the nature of this camp, students are encouraged to attend classes in a space they can stand and stretch in. Students are also encouraged to have a way to look at themselves (ie mirror, zoom camera, etc) for facial exercises - Characterization Crash Course ends with a performance of short sides that will be assigned during the week. During this session, students have the opportunity to observe other performers, practice the characterization skills they've learned, and receive constructive feedback on their performances to guide their ongoing success. - Current students of Katie’s can get a discount for leaving a rating and review on their current classes. Message Katie for more information. MY CREDENTIALS - I am working on a Theatre Education Degree from Utah State University - I have cast and directed various shows for ages 14 and up and have had two years of experience coaching students ages 12 and up in private instruction - I have three years of experience in a high school theater class as an assistant director and teacher’s assistant - I have been acting onstage for over twenty years
