Class Experience

In this fun and interactive book club we will read 1 book per week. For reluctant readers, that may sound impossible but this series by Mary Pope Osborne is easy to read, yet fun and engaging. As we know repetition is a key to learning new skills, I encourage all students to read about two chapters a day outside of class to keep up with the pace we will read. In class we will read 3-4 chapters per class and use slides with animations and sounds to spark the learner's interest. We will delve deeper into themes, character analysis, key words, vocabulary, and fun facts as we read and engage with the text to develop a love of reading.

"If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be"- Maya Angelou

Hello. I am a wife and mother of two boys aged 4 and 10. My family and I love to have fun playing video, card, and board games; traveling; singing and dancing (although we are not very good at either); and enjoying the outdoors. In my "spare time" I love to read, watch movies, and do puzzles. My boys are very active and I spend most of my time just trying to keep up with them. I am so excited to be joining the Outschool community as both a teacher and parent. I am excited to connect with students and parents who enjoy some of the things my family and I hold dear.
I have been teaching children of all ages for almost 10 years in the public school system. I have worked with special education, high school, middle school, elementary, and am currently a preschool teacher. I have my Bachelors degree in psychology and am pursuing a degree in school counseling. I love to engage learners of all ages in fun and interactive lessons. I will be offering classes in early education skills, social- emotional skills, and book clubs. My hope is that all learners leave my classroom with a new skill, a happy face, and a full heart.
