This course will motivate, challenge, and celebrate student reading. The goal of Chapter Book Battle Camp is to increase reading comprehension skills, acknowledge student perseverance and effort, provide good sportsmanship practice, and encourage individual creativity.
I am an avid reader who truly has a gift for encouraging others (students and adults alike!) to fall in love with reading. I have a B. A. in Education, and I'm an award-winning certified teacher in Texas. I have eleven years of teaching experience and have taught all subjects.
Students are expected to read individually, with a family member, or by listening to the audiobook version of the title outside of class for approximately 1-4 hours to finish the assigned chapter book prior to each class meeting. Students will be asked to read a total of nine chapter books over the course of five weeks. Students will have the opportunity to create an optional artistic representation of their choice to illustrate one scene from the assigned book outside of class.
