Chair Yoga: Mindful Movement to Encourage Happy Healthy Kids!
What's included
1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Building strength and balance can be fun! Yoga poses help kids build core strength and total body strength. The exercises can be a bit challenging, but everyone is encouraged to work at their own level. We will try to hold each of our poses for a count of 10, and kids are often amazed when they can do this. There may also be a few giggles here and there as we try out some new moves with silly names, like "the owl pose" or "perfect circles". Each class will begin with a brief check-in. Next, we will complete a breath exercise. After that we will work through a series of chair poses, holding each for a count of 10+. We will culminate with a short guided meditation. Students will be amazed to see how they begin to feel happy, focus more, and even have more balanced energy levels.

Teacher expertise and credentials
2 Degrees
Master's Degree in Education from University of Phoenix
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University
I have over 20 years of experience teaching grades 3 through 8. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University, where I studied Elementary Education. In addition, I have a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My classroom environment fosters imagination, growth, and experimentation. Students feel safe exploring the learning process, and proud of their accomplishments. My passion for teaching many subject areas, but particularly reading, writing, arts, and SEL is quite evident as I often believe in weaving the disciplines together in a cross-curricular approach. I have attended several SEL conferences over the years to keep up on the most current SEL practices. In my free time I enjoy my yoga and meditation practice, journaling, blogging, and writing poetry. Sharing this passion with students is a tremendous joy!
