Class Experience
In my Writing Workshop, we'll work on each step of the writing process. My students work via Google Docs, so you'll be able to keep a pulse on your learner's progress! ***Parents, please see my class policies below for important class/fee information*** Here’s some information about my essay tutoring: In my twelve years as a writing teacher, I’ve identified the areas in which middle school students often struggle. Following are the learning objectives for my Writing Workshop: 1....
Essay Writing Learning Goals: Students will be able to craft compelling essays by unpacking a prompt, designing a planning sheet, text-marking, creating a claim, supporting the claim with relevant text evidence, using MLA citations, incorporating transitional words and phrases, crafting powerful commentary, and revising and proofreading. Creative Writing Learning Goals: Students will be able to write powerful creative works by practicing plot development, tension/conflict, setting and scene building, character development, sensory details, dialogue development, revision, and proofreading.
I am a certified teacher with over twelve years of experience teaching Language Arts and writing.
No homework is required. However, students are welcome to work on their projects in between sessions.
For the majority of my students, I work via the Google Docs application. Working with Google Docs allows both teacher and student to type and edit during the session; this process increases engagement and strengthens the child's sense of ownership.
I provide very specific feedback in each session. Your child's Google Doc will be available 24/7, enabling you to keep a pulse on their progress!
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
