What is Juneteenth? Come and learn about the Juneteenth holiday. Celebrating Juneteenth! In this one-time class young learners will discover the significance of the Juneteenth holiday and how it came to be celebrated. This holiday is an important part of United States history. Many are excited about how it has evolved over the years and are looking for ways to celebrate the day. More importantly, for those who never heard of the holiday, it will be a time for enlightenment and learning. Learners will discover the historic significance of “Freedom Day” and fun ways they can also celebrate and acknowledge the holiday. Rosa Parks once said, “I believe our history should be just like everybody else’s history” This is an opportunity for everyone to gain appreciation of an important part of our history. Learners will learn fun facts like how the holiday actually got its name and interesting historic data drawing on primary history documents. The instructor is adept at taking historic information and making it simple and meaningful—and even fun for young learners. This one-time class will be conducted as the following: • Welcome • True or false quiz about Juneteenth • Instructor’s multi- media presentation of the history of the holiday with the instructor pausing to answer young learners’ questions. • Fun Juneteenth recipes you can make at home. • Final- Coloring pages and fill-in the blank take home pages The instructor has taught African American book discussion, the Poetry of Amanda Gorman and the Black History Month Club. She is a skilled professor, conscious parent and engaging author who knows how to break down complex ideas such that even young children understand them. Her classes are known for their depth, yet simplicity.

Cheryl R. Carter is a busy homeschooling mother, author, speaker and a college professor with a passion to help others write well. She teaches English and Creative Writing classes and has written broadly on a variety of subjects.. She is the author of several books including Organize Your Life, Chasing God and the Kids Too, Essential Writing Skills for the College Bound Student, Inspire the Writer in Your Child and Organize Your AD/HD Child.
