Celebrate Mom! Read-Aloud and Craft, Translucent Tissue Paper Vase (7-10)
What's included
1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
1. We will discuss class expectations and introduce ourselves using our first names and tell what US state or country we live in. We will make sure everyone has their work area set up for a little crafty mess and all their materials collected. 2. I will read the books, "I Love You More" by Laura Duksta and "I Love You So...," by Marianne Richmond. We will discuss the books as we read and how the characters remind us of special ladies in our lives. 3. I will show a variety of designs and color combinations on completed projects. 4. Students will choose their tissue paper colors and cut them into one inch squares. Smaller squares are better for more intricate designs and larger squares are better for students who have less dexterity or attention span. Many students choose to do a random, collage type of design. 5. Next we will mix a small amount of glue with the same amount of water. 6. I will demonstrate, then each student will put the tissue paper squares on their jar, coating each square thoroughly with the water glue. Students will then put their project in a safe place to dry. After 24 hours it needs to be sprayed with a sealer or Modge Podge to be water proof and be durable for use. 7. Students may share mom stories as they work. They will be able to share their projects at the end of class.
Learning Goals
Students will create a colorful vase to give to their mother or special lady in their life. They will listen and discuss stories about moms. They will use their creativity to make a useful product.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! My name is Amy Foss. You may call me Ms. Amy. I am a patient, fun-loving teacher. I will be teaching all subjects for elementary students.
I began teaching public school in 1996. I've taught kindergarten, first and second grades in the regular ed setting, some years co-teaching with the resource teacher. My favorite years were teaching science as a special to kindergarten through second grade students, and later, working with small groups of students, teaching interventions in reading and math for those struggling in kindergarten through fifth grade.
My master's degree concentrated on presenting lessons through creative arts using students' multiple intelligences. I often use body movement, songs, rhythm, humor, pretend play and games in my teaching.
I homeschool our 11-year-old son. In my freetime, I love to read, do puzzles, sing, snuggle with our dog, camp, travel and go on other adventures with my family!
