Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there!
My name is Jess Glynn and I am a certified English teacher. I earned my B.A. from Bridgewater State University in 2012. I went on to teach in a severe special education classroom before I became a middle school ELA teacher. After that I stayed home to raise my children (now 6 and 9) and was so blessed to stumble upon this wonderful world of online teaching. I have been teaching ESL online for the past 4 years to learners of all levels (ages 3-18). I am so excited to bring both my personal and professional experience to Outschool.
I am passionate about reading and think it is very important learners develop a love of reading from an early age. Children are learning and acquiring reading skills long before they are able to read themselves. In my class listings you will find a variety for the younger group ranging from morning circle time classes where we will build kindergarten readiness and social skills, phonics classes where we will focus on identifying letters and their sounds, sight words classes where learners will become familiar with these important building blocks that will help them to become fluent readers.
For the older learners you will find options such as grammar classes, creative writing classes, and book clubs. My lessons are fun and engaging. I think the secret to being a successful teacher is to take the "work" out of learning. I think children learn best when they are having fun and my classes are filled with engaging, interactive activities to keep them moving and thinking.
Besides teaching I love to be outside. My hobbies include running, hiking, reading, knitting and going to the beach. I love all things Disney and frequently offer extra classes where all of my Disney lovers can unite.
I am so excited to be here to teach and look forward to meeting your learner in my virtual classroom!
