Class Experience

Welcome friends! This a one-time Christmas class which will be taught in English and Japanese for learners to feel comfortable and excited about learning.

Let's celebrate this holiday season with a festive felt board activity, paper puppets, story time, worksheets, flashcards and more to introduce vocabulary and phrases in Japanese!

Our theme is Christmas and we will also go over colors, numbers, some greetings and phrases

We will read a Japanese book for storytime:
サンタさん どこにいるの? (Where is Santa?) by ひらぎ みつえ (Mitsue Hiragi)

Our crafty printable will be a Christmas tree we can decorate together while reviewing the colors we learned. Feel free to bring (as an option but not required) additional items like cheerios, stickers, pom poms, etc to add as ornaments to the tree. Parent supervision will be required for the use of safety scissors and glue. Printing the worksheet on cardstock (if available) is another option to allow for a sturdier tree.

Our flashcards will have the Japanese vocabulary written in romaji and hiragana/ katakana.

We will sing the Christmas songs “We wish you a Merry Christmas” and/or “Jingle Bells” and you’re welcome to bring some musical bells or a tambourine for some festive sounds!

Learners are encouraged to wear Christmas colors (or even dress up) to celebrate!

So bring your crayons or markers, safety scissors and glue stick with parental supervision and let's have fun learning!

メリークリスマス! Merry Christmas!

Hello Parents,

Thanks for stopping by! I've enjoyed teaching Early Childhood Education for 20+ years from owning a home preschool, an infant home playschool, teaching English in Japan at 12 of the local preschools and teaching online with a Japanese company when I returned to the States. I went to the University of Okinawa in Japan with a major in Japanese and CFNI in Dallas,TX with a major in Child Evangelism.

I enjoy illustrating many of my materials including flashcards, worksheets, felt stories and paper puppets. Creating them by hand or on my ipad allows me to bring fun props into our lessons while being able to tailor the lessons to my learners.

Being half-Japanese, I also love teaching little ones the language! Making Japanese fun and interactive is key so we use lots of felt board stories and games to create a comfortable atmosphere that encourages learners to use and retain the language.

My classes have a focus on:

Preschool learning
Beginner Japanese for young learners
ESL for beginners
Making crafts and being creative!

Your children may also see my toy poodle popping in the classroom from time to time! Her name is Ella and we look forward to having fun learning with your child/children!
