Hi, this is Mrs. C with Innovative Tutoring. If you are looking for a plain, straightforward, to-the-point teaching of math concepts, this is your class. I do use a variety of methods to teach, but my goal is to make sure that the students master the material. I want them to learn, to gain knowledge. The word "teacher" means "one who is apt to teach". A good meaning of the word "teacher" is "one who is able to explain and demonstrate concepts in a variety of ways for a variety of different...
The students will learn how to: a) simplify expressions with exponents; simplify fractions; write and calculate in scientific notation; solve problems by accounting for all possibilities b) perform operations with fractions; solve equations with fractions; find powers of products and quotients, and solve problems by working backwards.
I taught for over 30 years, along with homeschooling my 2 sons from K2 through 12th grade. My teaching experience includes teaching Kindergarten, 1st through 6th grade, 7th, and 8th-grade math, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Speech, 7th through 12th grade English, and 3 1/2 years as the head of a small college Education Department. I trained in teaching phonics and used this approach in the classroom, as well as with my sons. Both of my sons were reading fluently by the age of 4. I tutor reading, English, history, and elementary science privately. I have been tutoring since 2010. I have worked with students from many divergent backgrounds and cultures, including Mexico, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
