Class Experience
Students will recognize Katsushika Hokusai's Giant Wave print. Students will be able to draw an original wave and mix a variety of blues and greens to paint their wave.
Hi Grownups, I've been an art teacher for 25 years. Yes, I am the crazy lady that doesn't mind facing 25 five year olds armed with paintbrushes. Teaching virtually was a transition for me - but after 2 years of engaging kiddos via Zoom, I've found the virtual classroom to be even more productive than the in-person classroom. Kids who take virtual classes want to be there and they accomplish so much more in the time they dedicate to learning.

Hokusai's Giant Wave print shows 2 boats about to be swamped by a giant wave. We do not draw the students' attention to that - we focus on finding Mt. Fuji in the background and noticing the colors that Hokusai used in his artwork.
We will look at Hokusai's Giant Wave Print.
