Class Experience
Welcome to Cat Tales, a creative writing class specifically for cat lovers! Your cat will be the main character in your own short story. We'll put your cat in all sorts of situations and you'll write the story to bring it to life. You'll have the basic plot, but the details are all up to you. You can choose what point of view you'd like to write in. (Fluffy needs to save the world! vs. I need to save the world!) If you want to share your cat(s) with us, please do. They are more than welcome...
Students will practice the following skills: *lots of creativity! *brainstorming *story elements: character, setting, plot *gaining confidence sharing their work (optional!) *a chance to brag about their cats
Aside from absolutely loving cats, I used to be a middle and high school English teacher in the public school system, where I taught many lessons on creative writing. I've also been teaching creative writing classes since 2020 here on Outschool.
If you want a picture of your cat included as part of your finished story, please send it to me after class. :)
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
After class, I'll be editing your learner's story--just to fix any spelling, punctuation, capitalization errors mostly. Either before class or after, please send me a photo of your cat and I'll add it to the document. I will then send you the file to save or print. It will be an image file rather than a document. If you have any problems opening it, please let me know!
