In this 4-week flex class students will draw 12 different cat breeds while learning cool facts about each one.
Class experience
*****This is a flexible schedule class. There will be NO LIVE MEETINGS.***** All interaction will occur inside the Outschool Classroom area. Students will learn to draw 2 different breeds of cats each week and 12 over the course of the six week class. They will also learn facts about each breed. Students will then be directed step by step via prerecorded video and slideshow, how to draw the cats of the week. Students may complete their drawings with whatever medium they chose such as...
Students will learn how to use basic drawing skills (lines and shapes) to break down and recreate complex drawings. Students will also learn ways to give and receive positive and constructive critical feedback
I am an artist and photographer specializing in fine art, photography, and art education. In addition, I have been a homeschool educator for 16 years. I have taught children's art classes privately and through local after school and children's museum programs. Her photography has appeared in Parents Magazine and numerous photography blogs. I enjoy finding connections between things that don't seem connected upon first glance. To do that, I divide things down to their simplest parts and look for similarities. As a result I am able to break down seemingly complicated projects into simple step by step lessons. I also have a great appreciation for irony in art and life and try to infuse humor and silliness in my lessons and in my own work as well.
Homework Offered
As there are no live meetings, all work is done at the convenience of the students and their schedules.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be invited to share their completed or in progress work with the class by posting pictures of completed artwork. Students will also give and receive positive and constructive critical feedback from the instructor and other class members.Grades Offered
We will use a variety of medium including pencils, erasers, black sharpie. Students may complete their drawings in whatever medium they choose such as marker, colored pencils, or watercolor. Tips will be given for the media they are using. Card stock or mixed media paper is recommended for paper choice.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
